This involved JC29’s secondment to Network Rail as the project lead to provide commercial support on post contract duties, which included the assessment of claim submissions from the contractor.

JC29 was required to review all contractual claims, providing advice on the contract and on the appropriate course of action. They then drafted and issued all contractual correspondence to the contractor.

Working collaboratively with the contractor’s commercial team, JC29 negotiated claims settlements, addressing both points of principle and quantum, and managed the claims control process through Networks Rail’s internal procedure. In the process JC29 managed and resolved all commercial disputes with the contractor.

In the event the Contract was split into Phase 0 and Phase 1. Phase 0 Contact value was £10,694,722 and was Final Accounted at £9,500,001, a saving of £1,194,721.

Following the liquidation of Carillion, JC29 worked with Network Rail Senior Management where they assessed and made recommendation to the Final Account position for the Phase 1 works.
